Walker is one of the most up and coming apps being featured at Kickstarter at the moment. The fact that it's an Appsfire App Star Award 2012 finalist doesn't hurt either in raising this app, which is currently in development, into greater recognition each day. While there seems to be a large pool of apps that try to tackle the calendar/task/reminders arena, none really capture all facets of task management in an efficient and concise manner as Raul Rea's Walker. It guides you along the way without giving you a sense of feeling lost as you create calendar events and reminders. What makes this stand out from all the rest is that it uses Siri to add your tasks to a reminder list that then pushes to Walker, in a way Siri and Walker are playing nice. The interface is fairly simple with tabs on the bottom clearly identifying each one to its task. Long gone are the days of switching between the Reminders, Calendar and a bevy of other apps to manage your daily appointments and reminders.
The great feature of Walker that I find the most important and have found myself enjoying the most, is the way in which it pulls tasks or to-do's into it's 'Inbox' tab. From the there Walker then asks you if the task is 'Actionable' which is Walker's way of organizing your next step for the task. Basically what the actionable prompt does for the user, is that it categorizes the task into sub categories ranging from delegating the task in an email or setting up a calendar event. Actionable is what really sets Walker apart from the rest of the pack in my opinion. No other app allows you to organize your tasks from a single prompt and then assign what to do with it. It creates my calendar appointments so effectively within the app, I no longer need to deal with the complicated Calendar app the iPhone is equipped with.
Not only does Walker shine as a management system but also at reminding you. Within the 'Today' tab, a list of reminders is shown to give you a glance at your busy day ahead.
With features under development, like the ability to sync with iCloud reminders, add tasks from your Mac as well as seeing tasks in the notification center, Walker seems to be a promising up and coming app that can fill in the holes that iOS6 leaves. Walker is currently in development and is needed the help of backers to make this app come to fruition. By pledging money to help fund Walker not only do you help a great app come to life, but also depending on how much you pledge you can gain access to this great all in it's beta form, which honestly is worth it.
