Mr. Porter Sale

When it comes to a well curated online shopping destination for menswear, Mr. Porter is the site that first comes to mind. Not only are the designers & brands selected some of the finest around, but the site truly immerses itself into the menswear realm. Mr. Porter encompasses everything from clothing & shoes to home goods & tech, even a Journal the serves as Mr. Porter's editorial voice with articles and editor picks.

It was a nice surprise this morning to see Mr. Porter's main landing page say the one best word for any online shopper; SALE. With items from 30-50% off, it's insane to not head over to mrporter.com to find some perfect pieces to add to your wardrobe. I've selected the following outfit choices as my personal style picks from today's online sale event.

FH_line_up

We are just a short week away from Fashion Houston 2013. Four nights of runway looks from seventeen designers will take over the Wortham Theatre Center Nov. 12th through Nov. 15th. Fashion Houston 2013 will feature many designers from throughout the world and the US, like Houston darling Chloe Dao, in an exciting four night fashion affair that is the event of the season.

Tickets are available now. Tickets to the runway shows range in price from $29 - $274. After party tickets are $35 for Tuesday and Wednesday and $50 for Thursday and Friday. All Access VIP upgrades are available for the front row and include access to the VIP lounge at the after parties and the Green room, where the designers will be after their presentations.

A few of the designers I am looking forward to seeing are Chris Knott for Peter Millar and Zachary Prell. After such a fun time last year at my first Fashion Houston experience, I'm sure this year will not disappoint and only continue to shine as Houston's most fashionable event. Make sure to check out my guest blogs for Fashion Houston over on at their blog as well as other posts related to this years event.

Outerwear Trends for Fall 2013

Fall is hands down my favorite season. Not only does the weather begin to cool down, but we get to bust out our favorite jackets and scarves and play around with layers. Creating the perfect fall look is as easy as starting with a great jacket or sweater to which your whole outfit will revolve around. Think of your jacket as the most important fall piece in your wardrobe to dress up or down for any occasion.

Varsity Jacket

It's hard to not feel stylish wearing a leather jacket, preferably one that is cut in a biker style. This Ferragamo green leather/suede jacket combines two of the biggest trends of the moment. While the traditional black leather jacket has been emulated time and time again, Ferragamo adds their distinctive touch of sophistication by making it in a green hue and adding suede to reinvent the biker style.

Leather Suade Biker Jacket

Michael Bastian is king of adding edge to the traditional preppy style. This cardigan is the perfect example of how Bastian adds touches to his timeless pieces that make you stand out from the pack. The wolves knit into this cardigan send the message loud and clear, this isn't something gramps would knit and put under your Christmas tree.

As seen in many designers collections, paneled leather is big this year. Think of paneled leather jackets as the little brother to the full on motorcycle jacket, it has the cool factor that a leather jacket has, but with a bit more of a collegiate and everyday look that makes it a go-to staple in the fall months. Gap has constructed this greatvarsity jacket with leather sleeves and the traditional ribbed collars and hems to recreate this school look. This jacket is light enough to wear in the first few weeks of fall or pair with a scarf to bundle up as the temperatures drop even further approaching winter.

In an age where social media rules and a single tweet can transverse the globe in the matter of minutes, London Fashion Week designers along with Pinterest have joined together to create a photohub for a behind the scenes look into your favorite British designer’s shows. Among the designers that have teamed up with the British Fashion Council are Burberry and Topshop to bring this glimpse into the drama backstage.

 Boards

Expect to see behind the scene shots of the models and designers in preparation for the runway shows, inspiration boards on what the certain designer envisioned while creating their collection and plenty of other images of LFW never seen before. When asked about why Pinterest was interested in teaming up with LFW Kate Garlinghouse, head of community at Pinterest, said “Millions of people already turn to Pinterest for their fashion inspiration every day, so we’re excited to highlight some of the best boards from London Fashion Week to give people around the world a behind-the-scenes peek from some of fashion’s biggest names.” With boards created for each fashion week around the globe, Pinterest has become the go-to spot to see the latest trends the second they are shown onto the runway.
