To me, a martini after dinner is the epitome of being an adult. Lately, I've trying to perfect the art of making a perfect Espresso Martini at home. Since I am not a fan of desserts, the espresso martini is the closest to a rich & indulgent treat after my meals.
This drink works as a perfect cocktail party drink or as a nightcap after a long day. The trick to this cocktail is to use freshly made espresso to create that perfect frothy foam on top that espresso martinis are known for. Below is my recipe for the best espresso martini. If slinging drinks isn't your thing, try out Melbourne Martini's 'Espresso Martini' that does all the prep work for you, leaving you just the simple task of shaking & serving.
1.5 shots of vodka
1 shot of Kahlua
1 shot of freshly made espresso
Chill your martini glass by filling it with ice and water while you prepare your drink. Pour the vodka & Kahlua in a cocktail shaker without ice. Brew your espresso and add to the shaker. Add the ice (it minimizes the hot coffee from melting the ice as much than if you were to have poured it over). Shake vigorously. Empty martini glass. Finally, pour the contents into your glass using a strainer to achieve that rich & creamy froth. Enjoy!
