I’ve been saying this to my friends for a while now, cyber security needs to become something each and every one of us takes seriously. Every 39 seconds, a hack occurs. We are in an age where our personal data is logged away in our devices memory, whether we like it or not. To untangle our ‘digital self’ from our online activity is quite frankly a lofty & unachievable goal, so instead I believe it is important to secure ourselves the best way we can. To accomplish this, I use hardware security keys.
Security keys come in all shapes, sizes & functionality, but they all boil down to being a physical device that handles your online logins & are more secure than two-factor authentication. I personally own two, one that functions as a USB plug in device and another with NFC/Bluetooth capability for mobile use. I used mine to secure my Google account with its advanced security program.
More and more tech companies are embracing hardware security keys like Facebook, Google, Dropbox etc. These companies have even implemented them into their wide range of security options.
I’ve picked out a few brands below that I suggest checking out. Definitely purchase two keys if you can! I lean towards keys with NFC & Bluetooth technology as they’re great for people who use their phones more than desktops. Let me know what you guys think, is cyber security a priority for you right now or is it just a bunch of baloney?
