The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about the South are the brutal temperatures and the unbearable days and nights of sweltering heat. Because of our adverse conditions down in the southern states, who else but a Louisiana founded brand could make the perfect lightweight line of men's suits that look sharp and all while keeping you cool in the warmer months of the year. Founded in 1909 by Joseph Haspel Sr. in New Orleans and continued by Laurie Haspel Aronson, his great granddaughter, Haspel has constructed the perfect line of suits, jackets and pants that encapsulate the southern charm of the South. With summer weddings and events to attend, what better brand than to wear during the next few months than Haspel.
The Haspel seersucker suit is the brands most iconic piece with Joseph Haspel Sr. practically inventing it, but Haspel didn't just stop there. Haspel has expanded their line by creating other looks by using different fabrics and styles that can be worn as separates as well as together, creating a sporty yet refined look. A few weeks back I was able to attend the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's 'Runway for a Cure' event and wore Haspel's seersucker double-breasted suit. The double-breasted jacket was completely stylish for a runway show, and it was also perfect for an outdoor setting in the middle of April in Texas.
With Shipley & Halmos designers, Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos, appointed as the new design directors, the Spring/Summer 2014 collection includes bold colors, variations of the iconic seersucker suit, as well as sportswear jackets and pants among the many other pieces in this amazing collection.
