I have a strong opinion on men's shoes, I feel every guy should have a strong repertoire of shoe wear at their disposal. Nothing says 'underdressed' like showing up at an event with ill-fitting or out-of-style shoes. While sometimes it is ok to tone down the formality on what you wear on your feet, I feel that when you're in a professional or formal situation, pick your shoe wear accordingly.
Shoes can reveal a lot about a man. You can easily tell if a man pays attention to details by the way he dresses & even more so by his shoes. I'll often see guys who dress sharp, in a well-fitted suit, crisp shirt but then you look down & notice clunky or cheap shoes. This my friends just screams that they don't meticulously pay attention to details.
There seems to be a big problem (at least in my workplace) on guys wearing shoes that just don't work. Either they're matched wrong to their suits by clashing colors or they're wearing square toed shoes; seriously if you still own square toed shoes do yourself a favor & donate them, ASAP.
While shoes can get expensive, having a few solid choices can save you butt in any situation. While many shoe styles come & go, a select few stand the test of time & remain timeless classics. Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, Nick Wooster & many other men's style icons have all been pictured wearing the following three styles. Take a cue from the greats & add the following selections to your closet.
DOUBLE-MONK STRAP
Prada Double-Monk Strap Loafer
DINNER SLIPPER
Salvatore Ferragamo Patent Leather Slip-On
