I have no shame in admitting that my skin is my biggest insecurity, thats why I'm always looking for healthy substitutes to incorporate into my diet that can be beneficial. I use ghee instead of butter, vegannaise instead of mayonnaise, I basically will try any healthy substitution that can be more beneficial than their non-healthier counterparts. It was no surprise that after reading GOOP's Rose Latte recipe, I was immediately hitting up my local health shop for some Rose Water.
Rose water, yes water made from rose petals, is an adaptogen and rich in anti-oxidants. I've been substituting my morning lattes for Rose Lattes the last few days. I'm not going to lie to you and say it was an immediate cure for my problematic skin, but I can definitely tell you that it makes me feel better and lighter throughout my day. Check out the recipe below and try it out! It took me less than 5 minutes so why not try it!
ROSE LATTE
1 cup of milk (almond, coconut, raw dairy, or goat)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon coconut nectar or honey
2 tablespoons rose water
Strawberries or raspberries, fresh or frozen (optional)
Crushed rose petals
1. In a saucepan, warm all the ingredients except the coconut oil, rose petals, and sweeteners.
2. Slowly stir in the nectar or honey, then blend the mixture and strain it through a cheesecloth.
3. Pour it into a blender, and add the oil.
4. Once everything’s combined, pour it into a cup, and add a few crushed petals on top.
