I firmly believe that every guy should have pieces in their wardrobe that will stay in style from season to season. Not only does it save you money in the long run, but more often than not classic pieces are easy to mix and match with any style. I always gravitate to clothes that have a sense of longevity, for example a dark denim jacket like this one from J.Crew will work perfect for transitional seasons & is so classic that you won't have to worry about it being out of style by next year.
I like to get great quality coats for the transition in-between seasons because if you think about it, twice a year the weather shifts into that awkward time where you require something light that doesn't add bulk to your frame. I like to mix-and-match when it comes to my personal style, so a great coat to me is something that is minimal & easily dressed up or down. The coats I picked out for you guys today are ideal layering pieces, so tell me in the comments below how you personally like to style your coats as we ease into fall.

Style Pick: Henleys
Shipley & Halmos Brett Henley / Rag & Bone Raglan Henley
Wings + Horns Base Henley / Theory Gaskell Henley
A good Henley is quite possibly my favorite style of shirt for the fall. It's classic & effortless. You can find a henley in every kind of color & material. While what may seem to some as a simple long sleeve shirt, it is truly more than that. It can be worn easily under a jacket & a multitude of layers without feeling heavy & suffocating. Either worn on its own or as a layer, you can be certain to look stylish with this shirt. I personally recommend a henley in a grey color as it can be paired with a multitude of different styles & looks.

The Only Coat You'll Need This Season: Trench Coat
I read a lot of detective books growing up, & I mean A LOT! Encyclopedia Brown, The Hardy Boys, James Bond & Inspector Gadget were some of my favorite fictional characters growing up. I remember being in elementary school & begging my parents for this khaki trench coat from Zara Kids that I religiously wore throughout the fourth grade. I'd long for rainy days that would allow me to wear it to class, sometimes I'd even pout when my mother would tell me that it just wasn't the correct weather to wear it out that day. The trench coat always embodied this air of mystery & sleekness to me even to this day.
While I'm long past the age of thinking I'm conducting an undercover mission in my trench coat, trench coats are still one of my favorite outerwear staples for the fall. Over the last few weeks our weather has been all over the place, from rainy & cold one day to sunny & brisk the next. The trench coat is the all-time perfect coat for this unpredictable weather. Trench coats best protect your gear worn underneath from the nasty conditions outside.
When purchasing a trench coat remember to buy a size larger than normal, ensuring that whatever you wear underneath fits comfortably under the coat. Go for water-resistant materials that can withstand the rainy days to come. Most importantly, go for a material that is lightweight & can be worn throughout the day. While some trench coats can be made out of warmer materials, like the Topman Wool Blend Trench above, the best trench is meant to keep you cool but not toasty, opt for parkas or warmer coats if warmth is your main concern.

Autumn Knitwear
This weekend it literally felt like someone flipped the switch on the seasons. Without a warning, our sunny days have been swapped out with dark, cloudy & dreary afternoons. With weather like this seemingly coming at us quickly, it is only natural to start thinking about clothes for the inclement weather to come.
While I'm not too thrilled that the summer may be over, call it a symptom of summertime sadness, the silver lining on the autumn ahead of us is the great clothes we get to wear. Autumn always brings with it colorful foliage, pumpkin spice lattes & perfect weather to sport our favorite sweaters. Out of all the different types of outerwear, I have to say sweaters are my favorite. Call me boring, but the following sweater types have always been classic for the fall. The reason why crew necks, cardigans & cable knit sweaters have stood the test of time is that they pair well with everything. They're statement pieces that can really make an outfit stand out among others. What are your personal favorite wardrobe pieces for the fall? Are you excited to put away your swim trunks & shorts as I am?

Fall Trends: High End Sneakers
I've been on a sneaker obsession recently. It seems that lately all I want to wear is a fashionable sneaker. I've been able to dress sneakers up or down depending on any situation. For a while now, sneakers have made an appearance on the runways of some of fashion's most celebrated designers. Paired with a variety of clothes, sneakers can go with anything from suits to sweats. Not since the 1990's have people paid much attention to what kicks you are sporting on your feet. While I've been rocking my favorite Ferragamo sneakers for the last year, it is time for an upgrade.
With the fall season upon us, what better time than now to upgrade your kicks. The key to pulling off the sneaker is to pick something creative & fashion forward. Don't expect to be complimented on some Nike trainers if you want to pull off this look. Splurge a little & pick up some of these awesome sneakers. Trust me not only will you look great, but your feet will be thanking you from the reprieve of some of your more constricting shoes.

Kanye West for A.P.C.
Back in January 2014, French powerhouse A.P.C. announced its second collaboration with Yeezus, a.k.a. Kanye West. While in the last few years West has been very busy having children, getting married & ranting in interviews any chance he gets, he managed to have time to create a menswear collection for A.P.C. Expanding on the limited pieces from his first collection, West has created a full vision of the line he wanted to create, including pants, shirts, fur lined parkas & the eponymous ski-masks he's been sporting around as of late.
The colors are subdued & military inspired. I'd call this collection a kind of military chic mixed with derelict, as one of his high ticket pieces, a parka, has fur lining. I can't say I'd sport any of these looks all together, but some pieces like his Airport Sweater and Work Shirt are a definite must have.
The collection launched today so head to your nearest A.P.C. store or go online later today to the A.P.C. website to get your hands on some Yeezus wear.
The Handvaerk Henley
The henley has been the exemplary layer for the winter months for countless years, basic enough to wear as a layer with any outfit but stylish enough on its own to wear unbuttoned when lounging around. Handvaerk offers a line of men's and women's henleys that are made with raw materials and luxurious fabric, the fact that each henley is made in a family operated workshop guarantees that the utmost attention to quality is made. Made out of a light-weight jersey material, the long sleeve henley by Handvaerk is extremely soft and fitted throughout the torso. The long sleeve henley comes in three colors; grey melange, white and black. Designed in New York and handmade in Peru, Handvaerk makes the ideal henley for the fall/winter months.
Leather + Wool Jacket Trend
Add some edge to your fall wardrobe with some leather and wool. Both materials are staples for the cold fall air that is swiftly sweeping the US right now. The wool and leather combo make for a perfect fit in black, adding a biker vibe to any outfit. Not only does this combo look good, but it also ensures you stay warm as the cooler weather approaches. The following three picks are perfect examples on how to rock the Wool + Leather trend. The following three brands reimagined the look in their own particular way. My personal favorite of the tree picks, the Canadian brand Mackage's Sinclair Biker jacket. The jacket comes with two great looks in one, allowing you to remove the down nylon arms for a sleeveless vest look.

Outerwear Trends for Fall 2013
Fall is hands down my favorite season. Not only does the weather begin to cool down, but we get to bust out our favorite jackets and scarves and play around with layers. Creating the perfect fall look is as easy as starting with a great jacket or sweater to which your whole outfit will revolve around. Think of your jacket as the most important fall piece in your wardrobe to dress up or down for any occasion.
It's hard to not feel stylish wearing a leather jacket, preferably one that is cut in a biker style. This Ferragamo green leather/suede jacket combines two of the biggest trends of the moment. While the traditional black leather jacket has been emulated time and time again, Ferragamo adds their distinctive touch of sophistication by making it in a green hue and adding suede to reinvent the biker style.
Michael Bastian is king of adding edge to the traditional preppy style. This cardigan is the perfect example of how Bastian adds touches to his timeless pieces that make you stand out from the pack. The wolves knit into this cardigan send the message loud and clear, this isn't something gramps would knit and put under your Christmas tree.
As seen in many designers collections, paneled leather is big this year. Think of paneled leather jackets as the little brother to the full on motorcycle jacket, it has the cool factor that a leather jacket has, but with a bit more of a collegiate and everyday look that makes it a go-to staple in the fall months. Gap has constructed this greatvarsity jacket with leather sleeves and the traditional ribbed collars and hems to recreate this school look. This jacket is light enough to wear in the first few weeks of fall or pair with a scarf to bundle up as the temperatures drop even further approaching winter.
