When it comes to packing for a trip I like to think I'm fairly efficient. I don't like to check-in my luggage unless I really need to (for example a long trip) but when it's a weekend trip like today's mini-vacay to Vegas I try to make everything fit into my carry-on. To make this happen I like to pack a lot of solid colors that can mix well with each other, I'm not one to plan what to wear until I'm getting ready for what I'm going to do. Check out what some of the items I packed in my suitcase & follow me on Instagram to check out my photo updates while away!

3 Affordable, Well-Tailored Suits

A well tailored suit can get you far in life. It can be that extra touch during a job interview, the look that gets the attention of a certain special someone while out for drinks or even be the go-to piece in your closet for various social events. There is one tip I learned from my father growing up that I will always remember & that is that the trick to looking like a million bucks in a suit isn't necessarily spending much, but having it form fitted to your body.

Let's be honest, suits can sometimes get crazy expensive. While the investment is well worth it in the long run, sometimes you need a reliable suit ready to go at all times in your closet that won't break the bank. The three suits I've picked today are all based on three criteria:

  1. Quality Fabric
  2. Reliable Brand
  3. Affordable (Around $500 or Less)

Go the extra mile & visit a tailor once you receive your suit & have a few adjustments made. Even though the fitting on these suits are all fine, it gives an extra oomph to have it tailored to your body. I can't name the amount of times having a go-to suit that is sharp, fits well and perfect for multiple occasions has saved my butt!

Summer Ready Shirts

Gant Rugger Stripped Cotton-Oxford Popover / J.Crew Printed Button-Down Cotton Shirt

Billy Reid Linen Chambray Shirt / Saturdays Surf NYC Gingham Shirt

Blame it all on the sweltering heat that seems to be engulfing the US right now, but I have seemed to try to avoid at all costs anything long sleeved. While some of us may be lucky to get away with it at work, I mostly recommend to rock these looks post 9-5 as I feel you should always dress for what you want to become in work & in life.

Short-sleeved collard shirts are a perfect way to beat the heat while still looking polished & put together. The best part of the short-sleeved shirt is that it can easily transition with your day & never look out of place. From a morning coffee run, up until a dinner with loved ones, you'll never looked under dressed in the following selections. A great style of shirt that I've been really digging & seeing everywhere are popovers. Popover shirts are kind of like your traditional shirt in which there are buttons on the front, but these shirts stop halfway, adding an air of ease and comfort for those who have an aversion to traditional looks, for example the Gant Rugger Cotton Oxford Popover pictured above. Try to stick to cotton or other lightweight fabrics like linen to keep extra cool as the temperatures keep getting higher.

Mr. Porter Sale

When it comes to a well curated online shopping destination for menswear, Mr. Porter is the site that first comes to mind. Not only are the designers & brands selected some of the finest around, but the site truly immerses itself into the menswear realm. Mr. Porter encompasses everything from clothing & shoes to home goods & tech, even a Journal the serves as Mr. Porter's editorial voice with articles and editor picks.

It was a nice surprise this morning to see Mr. Porter's main landing page say the one best word for any online shopper; SALE. With items from 30-50% off, it's insane to not head over to mrporter.com to find some perfect pieces to add to your wardrobe. I've selected the following outfit choices as my personal style picks from today's online sale event.

Billy Reid Cotton Shorts / Todd Snyder Striped Cotton Shorts

Acne Studios Slim-Fit Jeans / Tod's Suede Monk-Strap Shoes

Traditional Varsity Style

There is a certain kind of nostalgia that comes up when you see some traditional Americana Varsity inspired looks. From high school to college, we all have a space in our hearts for collegiate style. Just because it may have been a few years, or even decades since your graduation, it doesn't mean you can't rock an effortless and chic collegiate look.

You don't have to go digging for your varsity jacket, as some brands have reimagined the look into modern and updated pieces. The following head to toe look is simple, classic and updated but yet keeps a few throwback accents to make this a modern take on the college look. This look works perfect for these last few weeks of slightly chillier weather, for example this Wallace & Barnes Baseball Bomber Jacket from J. Crew will keep you warm but doesn't scream 'winter style' by any means.
