Labor Day is quickly approaching next week & with this holiday comes the unofficial mark of the end of the summer. Our tans will quickly fade, our color palates will begin to subdue, but for one last weekend we will get to enjoy the summer before the return of fall. Labor Day is of one of my favorite three-day weekends of the year.
Almost every Labor Day since I can remember, my family & I would fly out to NYC for the first weekend of the US Open. While this year I won't be accompanied by my parents, it still is a trip I look forward to this summer. There is something about spending the weekend in the East Coast that makes me want to sport my most nautical & preppiest of outfits.
I curated this head-to-toe look from J Crew for the holiday. While I think it is a silly rule (and I hardly heed to it) Labor Day is dubbed the last weekend to wear white pants (like these 484 Japanese selvedge denim) so I figured to create a look around this sartorial staple. When it comes to pulling off white pants properly, I think an important rule is to have fun with it. Wear something with stripes on top or even a sweater with a pop of color to break the monochrome look that sometimes occurs when wearing white. My favorite piece of this outfit is the Kenton suede pacer boot that is sure going to be a favorite of mine once the fall arrives.
