London Fashion Week Creates Behind The Scenes Pinterest

Pinterest Fashion Week

The dresses and suits have been steamed, the models have rehearsed down the runway, the lights are set and fashionistas around the world are in eager anticipation for the launch of London Fashion Week 2014. In an age where social media rules and a single tweet can transverse the globe in the matter of minutes, London Fashion Week designers along with Pinterest have joined together to create a photohub for a behind the scenes look into your favorite British designer’s shows. Among the designers that have teamed up with the British Fashion Council are Burberry and Topshop to bring this glimpse into the drama backstage.

 Boards

Expect to see behind the scene shots of the models and designers in preparation for the runway shows, inspiration boards on what the certain designer envisioned while creating their collection and plenty of other images of LFW never seen before. When asked about why Pinterest was interested in teaming up with LFW Kate Garlinghouse, head of community at Pinterest, said “Millions of people already turn to Pinterest for their fashion inspiration every day, so we’re excited to highlight some of the best boards from London Fashion Week to give people around the world a behind-the-scenes peek from some of fashion’s biggest names.” With boards created for each fashion week around the globe, Pinterest has become the go-to spot to see the latest trends the second they are shown onto the runway. NYFW S/S14: Michael Bastian 360°

CROP 1

Many of New York’s fashionistas gathered at The Pierre Hotel at 3p.m. on the first day of New York Fashion Week to attend Michael Bastian’s Spring/Summer 2014 menswear collection. While there was plenty of action on the runway, all eyes were on social media. Creating hopefully a long-lasting trend, Michael Bastian has granted a full view of what goes on the day of a runway show through the social-media site Instagram. The social-sphere of Twitter and Instagram was buzzing with eager anticipation after the announcement of the #MichealBastian360 hashtag. In collaboration with Esquire Magazine, a behind the scenes look into the Michael Bastian show was documented throughout the lens of different members of the Michael Bastian team.

Those who followed the #MichaelBastian360 feed were able to see the in-and-outs of the Michael Bastian show from various members of the brands team, including VP and PR maven Eugenia Gonzalez’s (@bastiangirl), who shared a look into finishing up the seating chart for the show and a ‘selfie’ prior to the first model gracing the runway. Not only was Team Bastian taking part on the fun on Instagram, but also top male models Tony Chung (@tonychungmodel) and Eduardo Nueves (@nueves), who shared peeks into the rehearsals leading up to the show as well as views from their hair and makeup chairs. Once the show started, Esquire’s Senior Online editor Jonathan Evans (@MrJonathanEvans) took us front row and shared with us the experience of attending one of America’s leading menswear designer’s show. There was no exaggeration when this unique behind-the-scenes experience was described as a full 360 view. Hopefully more designers will take note and lift the curtains to show us a backstage look into more shows next season. Proving himself to always be ahead of the trend, Michael Bastian wowed us all with his up close and personal look of his SS14 show. Milan FW Trends, How You Can Wear Them

With Milan's Men’s Fashion Week drawn to a close last week, this post is dedicated to the three trends seen on the runways for Spring/Summer 2014. While SS14 may be a year away, with most if not all the pieces shown on the runway not yet available, steal the looks from the three biggest trends right now.

Florals

Florals Trend From Gucci to Prada, florals were a big trend at MFW. From large-scale to a touch in accessories, floral prints were everywhere throughout the collections shown. Taking a cue from Eastern culture, Prada included florals in floral print shirts and hibiscus adorned suitcases. Copy this look with a Libertine-Libertine Shirt with Palm Tree prints.

Monochromatic

Monochromatic If year was all about shades of grey, this year it’s about wearing varying shades of a monochromatic color. Calvin Klein, Bottega Veneta and Zegna displayed looks in head to toe color schemes based on a single unifying color. Pair a different hued blue shirt, like this Lacoste Linen Shirt, on top of some jeans you already own and rock your own version of the monochromatic trend.

Bermuda Shorts

Bermuda If Massimiliano Giometti's SS14 Salvatore Ferragamo show has any indication of the trend for shorts next season, is that Bermuda shorts are making its way back to the sartorial savvy. Straying away of the tight and shorter cuts as of late, many shows featured shorts with a well-tailored and looser fit. Keep cool this summer and slip into these similar Topman Blue Flecked Suit Shorts.
